Guidelines for Poster Presentations

Posters should be tri-fold posters - 3' tall X 4 ' wide with a minimum 20 point font size type.  Posters typically include the following sections:

1.     Wide banner that includes the title and the authors’ names and affiliations

2.     Introduction

3.     Methods

4.     Results – with supporting figures

5.     Conclusions

During poster presentations, readers should be able to get the main gist of your research without having to spend too much time reading your poster.  To increase the readability of your poster, please use the following suggestions:

1.      Arrange the text of the poster in vertical columns similar to a newspaper layout (the Introduction would start at the upper left corner and the Conclusions would end at the bottom right corner).

2.      Text should be no smaller than 20 point font and the banner should be written in larger font than the rest of the poster text.

3.      Use figures to present results and any other aspects of your research that could be presented in a visual format.

4.      Minimize the amount of text and the length of paragraphs.  Consider using bullet points to increase readability.
